Glass Staircase Renovation in Arnold, Nottingham

We recently completed a modern glass staircase renovation at a residential property in Arnold, Nottingham, transforming a dated staircase into a clean, contemporary feature.
The original staircase featured traditional white timber posts and spindles, which restricted light and made the space feel enclosed. Our brief was to open up the stairwell while maintaining safety and a strong visual finish.
The Installation
We removed the existing posts and spindles and installed 12mm thick toughened glass panels, precision-measured and fitted to suit the existing staircase layout. The glass was finished with black aluminium capping, providing a sharp contrast against the neutral interior while maintaining a minimalist, modern look.
All glass panels were installed in full compliance with UK building regulations (BS6180), ensuring the staircase is both safe and durable for everyday use.
The Result
The new glass balustrade allows light to flow freely through the stairwell, creating a brighter and more open feel across both floors. The black capping adds a strong architectural detail, complementing the property’s modern interior style.
This renovation is a great example of how upgrading a staircase balustrade can dramatically change the look and feel of a home without the need for a full staircase replacement.
